Experience the Thrills of Taunton Skatepark

Taunton Skatepark, located in Hamilton Gault Park, was designed and built by the renowned Wheelscape in 2010. It is a perfect blend of transition and street elements, offering a unique experience to skaters of all levels.

The transitions section of the park features a medium-sized bowl that consists of a rectangular section with two circular ones joined onto the end, each part being a different depth. A snake run runs around the side of the bowl, and on the top platform is a ledge. A flat bank with a stair set, rail, and an extension lead down from the platform and open up onto the street section.

The street section of the park is made up of a driveway with ledge and a manny pad that are next to an up and down kicker and pyramid. Following these is a hipped bank with an extension on one side. The obstacles are well spaced, allowing for nice long flowing lines, making it a fantastic place for beginners and experienced skaters alike.

Taunton Skatepark is free to use, subject to opening and closing times. The park’s metal construction allows for a smooth ride, and its outdoors location provides the perfect ambiance for a fun-filled skateboarding experience.

My Experience

Rollin’ into Taunton Skatepark

Last week, I had the pleasure of checking out Taunton Skatepark and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. This hidden gem, located in Hamilton Gault Park, was designed and built by Wheelscape and opened its doors back in 2010. As someone who’s always on the lookout for skateparks to visit, I have to say that this park did not disappoint.

The park is a mixture of transition and street elements that cater to skaters of all levels. The transitions section starts with a medium-sized bowl that has a rectangular section with two circular ones joined onto the end. Each part has a different depth, and around the side of the bowl is a snake run, which adds to the excitement of the ride. On the top platform, there’s a ledge that leads down to a flat bank with a stair set, rail and an extension that open up onto the street section. The street section here is made up of a driveway with a ledge and a manny pad that are next to an up and down kicker and pyramid. Following these is then also a hipped bank with an extension on one side.

The obstacles are well-spaced, making it easy to flow from one to the next without feeling cramped. The park’s layout is perfect for beginners who are still getting comfortable with their boards and the more experienced skaters who are looking for a challenge. My favorite thing about this skatepark is the long, flowing lines that can be created. It’s hard to describe the feeling of cruising through the park, hitting each obstacle seamlessly, and feeling the wind in your face. It’s a feeling that all skaters know too well.
