Discover Maidstone’s South Park Skatepark: A Thrilling Haven for Skaters

Maidstone’s South Park Skatepark is a popular spot for skaters, featuring metal-framed composite ramps located on a tarmac base. The skatepark was originally built in 2006, but the bowl, which was once a major attraction, was removed in June 2020 due to safety concerns. The bowl had developed large cracks, making it unsafe for skaters to use.

However, the park still offers a variety of ramps that cater to different skill levels, including a driveway with hubba, a jump box, and a quarter pipe with a vert wall. These ramps provide a safe and exciting experience for skaters of all levels.

One of the best things about South Park Skatepark is that it is free and open to the public. The park is located outdoors in Maidstone, specifically at Armstrong Road, Kent, ME15 6TL. The opening and closing times for the park are subject to change, so it is best to check the schedule before heading over.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced skater, Maidstone’s South Park Skatepark is the perfect place to practice your skills and have fun. You can enjoy the free park, explore different ramps, and learn new tricks with your friends.

My Experience

Skateboarding fun at Maidstone’s South Park Skatepark!

I visited Maidstone’s South Park Skatepark a few weeks ago and had a blast! As a young skateboarder, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting skateparks to shred, and this one did not disappoint.

The skatepark is made up of metal-framed composite ramps on a tarmac base. Although it may not be the most visually appealing skatepark I’ve been to, it definitely has its charm. The ramps are well-built and offer a smooth ride, which is all that really matters to me.

One thing to note is that the skatepark used to have a bowl. However, it was removed in June 2020 due to safety concerns. Apparently, large cracks had appeared, making it unsafe for skateboarders to use. While it’s a shame the bowl is no longer there, there are still plenty of ramps to keep you occupied.

The remaining ramps consist of a driveway with hubba and a jump box. These were my personal favorites as they offered a great challenge and allowed me to try out some new tricks. The run then finishes with a quarter pipe and a vert wall, which offer a great opportunity to practice your transitions.

Overall, I had a great time at Maidstone’s South Park Skatepark. It may not have all the bells and whistles of some of the larger skateparks out there, but it’s still a great spot to hit up with friends. Plus, the fact that it’s free to use is a huge bonus!
