Last week, my friends and I visited Lightwoods Skatepark, and boy were we impressed. As a medium-sized skatepark located on the west side of Birmingham, this spot has everything a skater could ask for.

Starting off on one side is a curved flat bank that leads along the side of the street section. The two-tiered ledge, adjacent manny pad with a ledge, and small rail make for a great street section. Moving onto the transitions section, we were met with a back and forth section consisting of two facing quarter pipes and a spine in the middle. The speed bowl and mini ramp afterwards provided a great opportunity to show off some skills. Additionally, there is an open, flat area that can be used for flatland tricks.

This skatepark is a great local spot with something for everyone. Whether you’re into street or transition skating, there is a decent selection of obstacles waiting for you.
