Description and Skatepark: Hatherleigh Skatepark

Located in Island Park, Hatherleigh Skatepark was designed and constructed by Wheelscape in the year 2013. This open-air skatepark is surrounded by lush greenery and has become a go-to destination for skaters of all levels.

The skatepark boasts of two impressive sections – the street section and the bowl section. The street section starts on one end with a flat bank and block, which leads to an earthquake gap. The gap is followed by a hubba, rail, ledge, and a wave next to a stair set with rail.

On the other hand, the bowl section is quite impressive, featuring a large open-sided bowl with an extension around the short side. The open side of the bowl extends to form a quarter pipe that acts as a return ramp for the street run. The setup of the obstacles in the street section is well thought out, and the bowl section is perfect for pulling off some sick aerial moves.

My Experience

Hey guys, I went to Hatherleigh Skatepark last week and I have to say it’s a pretty great spot for skaters! The park was designed and built by Wheelscape and opened in 2013. You can find it in Island Park and it features both a street section and bowl section.

The standout feature for me was definitely the street section. It starts on one side with a flat bank and block that opens up onto an earthquake gap with a hubba, rail, ledge, and a wave next to a stair set with rail. The variety of obstacles and how they are arranged has been well thought out, making it a great space for skating and practicing tricks.

Moving on to the bowl section, it features a large open-sided bowl with an extension around the short side. The open side of the bowl is then extended to form a quarter pipe that acts as a return ramp for the street run. I’m not the most experienced skater, but I could see the potential for some big air in this section.
