Skateboarding at Devonshire Green Park

Devonshire Green skatepark, located on the outskirts of Devonshire Green Park, is a minimalist skatepark with an all-concrete surface. Although the design is simple, it still provides an ample amount of space for skateboarders to perfect their skills.

The skating area is surrounded by bowled edges with coping or flat banked edges, providing skateboarders with a diverse range of obstacles to practice on. On one side, there are three staggered ledges, and on top of the raised edges, skateboarders can stand or perform tricks on platforms with low walls as well for grinding. In the center of the skatepark, there are two different sized hips, one taller and the other shallower, for skateboarders to test their abilities on.

The skatepark’s design may be basic, but it still offers some nice lines and a large open flat area, providing beginner skateboarders with enough space to practice the basics. Additionally, the skatepark is entirely made of concrete. This means skateboarders can enjoy the park without worrying about any damage to the surface.

My Experience

Devonshire Green Skatepark: A Beginner’s Dream

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Devonshire Green skatepark, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. As someone who is fairly new to skating, I was a bit nervous about tackling a more advanced park. However, Devonshire Green proved to be the perfect spot for beginners and advanced skaters alike.

The park itself is situated in one corner of a larger park, which makes for a nice change of scenery. The skating area is entirely concrete and features a simple set up, but don’t let that fool you. The park has enough obstacles to keep you busy and entertained for hours. Most of the edges surrounding the skating area are bowled with coping or have a flat banked edge. Additionally, there are a staggered set of three ledges along one side, which provide a nice challenge for those looking to work on their grinds.

One thing I appreciated about Devonshire Green was the abundance of platforms to stand or trick on. These platforms are situated atop the raised edges and some even have a low wall along the side for grinding. In the centre of the skatepark, you’ll find one tall hip backed onto the edge and a shallower one more centrally.
